2024 FLAG AND TACKLE FOOTBALL SEASON

Sioux City Future Stars offers football to boys and girls in grades 1st through 6th grade (2024-2025 school year) during the fall season.  1st and 2nd graders will be playing flag football through the Sergeant Bluff Parks and Rec League.  Players in grades 3rd through 6th grades will be playing tackle football through the Sioux Border Conference (same program that Stars Youth Football has played previously.) By registering through Future Stars, we will ensure your child is placed on a team with their classmates.  Some of these teammates may be familiar faces, however, they will also have the opportunity to meet new teammates that may be attending another one of our North feeder schools.

  •  Flag Football games are played on Saturdays at the Sergeant Bluff Recreation Complex, located at 914 E Topaz Dr, Sergeant Bluff, IA.
  • Flag Football will have 6-8 games that start at the end of August and run through the middle of October.
  •  Tackle Football will have 5 weekly games, played on Saturdays, that start after Labor Day and run through the middle of October, including an end of year tournament.
  • Player registration for both flag football and tackle football can be completed on our Future Stars website.

  •  Evaluation Day

o Date: TBD
o Time: TBD
o Location: North Middle School Practice Field
o This year we will be introducing our evaluation day. All tackle football players in grades 3rd to 6th will be required to attend this event. During this event, each registered player will have their weight measured, and run a series of drills to test their football skills.
o This evaluation will serve as a guide for our board when assembling teams, and it will also serve a measurement for our program to ensure we are teaching the proper skills throughout the season.

  • Weight Rules – PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY

o We will be weighing in each player at the evaluation day. This weight will serve as their official playing weight for the season.
o The league we participate in has weight limits for playing positions. These rules are intended to keep the game as safe as possible for all players.
o Below are the league rules regarding weight limits. You may visit the league website to view a full list of rules at: https://sites.google.com/view/sioux-border-conference/home

  • Post Season All-Star Tournament Teams

o This season we will be introducing an opportunity for our 5th and 6th graders to participate in 2 post season tournaments. These youth tackle tournaments are held in Des Moines and Sioux Falls. They will both take place after the conclusion of our regular season.
o There will only be one All-Star team per grade.
o Selections – at the end of the regular season players will be given the opportunity to vote for their teammates to be selected to the tournament team. Each player will be allowed to vote for 10 teammates that they feel deserve to be on the roster. Coaches and the football board will meet to make the final decisions for each team selection.
o Rosters – we will have a maximum of 22 players on the roster for the All-Star teams.
o Coaches – in the event we have multiple teams during the regular season with multiple coaching staffs, the football board will be responsible for selecting the coaching staffs for the All-Star teams.
o Cost – $50 per player
o Travel and hotel accommodations will not be paid for by the Future Stars program.

The Future Stars Football Program is devoted to following the USA Football's Football Development Model in order to teach proper fundamentals, safety techniques and skills according to the player's age and development.  We encourage parents to learn more about the model that the program will be implementing this season and the coming years as we develop our program.  More information can be found in the pdf below: "Football for All - What Parents Need to Know"
